Rescue 7 removes major obstacles that every patient, family, and advocacy group carries on their shoulders: Housing, meals, and transportation during extended care and participation in clinical studies.
Currently we offer: Transportation to every clinical appointment and airport pickups; fire department charity competitions to benefit advocacy groups; sibling support; conference programs; public speaking, and collaboration with life science companies. We are actively working to raise vital funds to secure our Patient Headquarters and provide cost-free housing for caregivers and patients. Donate today and help us on our way. Patients can’t wait. Join our squad when duty calls and the community needs a rescue.
Below are services that Rescue 7 offers patients and families traveling to receive treatment:
Rescue 7 Patient Headquarters
Patients and caregivers stay free of charge in our private fire department headquarters. We have community meals, and HQ is staffed
24-hours by two Rescue 7 firefighters. We stay out of your way until you need anything or want to check out the trucks. Our HQ is around the corner from the firehouse, so you’re not interrupted by the noise of a busy New York firehouse.
Rescue 7 Patient Headquarters is coming soon. In the meantime, please contact us for a list of affordable and accessible hotels near your hospital.
Rescue 7 Transportation
Forget the burden of accessible Ubers or waiting outside for hours until a taxi comes. Treatment days are long, and you can’t miss an appointment.
Ever been in a Chief’s truck? Chief’s trucks aren’t big roaring fire engines. Chiefs need to get on scene fast and arrive before the engines do. One of our off-duty firefighters will drive you to every appointment and back to headquarters after a long day at the hospital.
Oh yeah, while we are the safest drivers on the road, traffic isn’t an issue. We have lights and sirens, so you’ll get there on time every time. Sure, you can wear the Chief’s helmet too.
Sibling Support
Fire Department traditions are rooted in family and trust. We’re brothers and sisters running into danger side by side. We never leave anybody behind, and that includes siblings of children living with catastrophic medical conditions.
It’s scary to be the sibling of a sick brother or sister, and sometimes it’s scary to be brave.
They’re our brothers and sisters now too. Rescue 7 has a team member at your local firehouse whose job it is to make sure siblings of sick children smile. We work with firehouses across the country to have a Rescue 7 trained firefighter ready to host siblings and family members who need a rescue.
Firehouses are fun and safe. If a caregiver needs a breath of fresh air, take a walk or a nap while we show your kids what it’s like to sit in the Captain’s seat on one of our rigs or show them a training demonstration.
Every Caregiver Needs a Cup of Coffee
Rescue 7 partners with our brothers and sisters at Fire Department Coffee. FDC is owned and operated by military veterans and firefighters.
We’ve been there. You’ve been up for the third overnight shift, worried about your child who is lying in the hospital bed next to your fold-out chair. Your kid needs a smile, and you need some coffee. We got you.
One of our firefighters and service dogs will visit the hospital, give you a coffee break, and hang out with your superhero. We won’t leave until your child has a smile, and you have a break. When the bell rings Rescue 7 is there for a hug and a handshake.
