Closing a Critical Gap in Emergency Response
Seizures are one of the most common neurological emergencies first responders encounter, yet training and post-seizure support protocols remain inconsistent nationwide. For patients living with rare and severe neurological conditions, this gap is even more critical. Their seizures often present differently, escalate quickly, and require care that goes beyond standard emergency training, leaving many families feeling invisible within the system.
Our Program: A New Standard of Care
With your support, Rescue 7 will develop and deliver a First Responder Epilepsy Awareness Program designed to create a new standard for how first responders recognize, respond to, and follow up on seizure-related emergencies. This program is unique. Nobody does what we do.
Our epilepsy and seizure awareness program is built from within the first responder community, powered by caregiver expertise and high-level field experience in the most severe emergency situations.

Meet Our Founders
Rescue 7 was founded by two first responders who are also parents of children with rare neurological diseases. Their decades of experience in emergency response and patient advocacy gives our organization a unique perspective that tackles both the urgent demands in the field and the lived experience as caregivers.
Luke Rosen
New York State Firefighter & USAR Task Force LeaderImpact@Rescue7.orgLuke is a New York State Firefighter specializing in search & rescue operations of high-risk victims. His mission to integrate patient needs and first responder training became clear following his experience as a first responder during the 2025 LA fires. Luke is the proud father of two, and his youngest daughter lives with a rare neurological disease.
Raena Vrtochnick
Detective, Milwaukee Police DepartmentImpact@Rescue7.orgRaena is a twenty-four-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department and currently serves as a detective. She is also the mother of a child affected by a rare neurological disease.
Raena dedicates her life to patient advocacy and her role as a leader in law enforcement.
